Outreach Coordinator

San Diego Miramar College, a student-ready college, invites all qualified candidates to apply for the position of Outreach Coordinator. The college is located in the Mira Mesa / Scripps Ranch area of San Diego and is one of four colleges / centers in the San Diego Community College District. Applications are currently being accepted for Outreach Coordinator, located at Miramar College. Hours are 8 : 00am to 5 : 00pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours to support community programming. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days / hours based on the department's needs.

Desired Qualifications : Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field. One year of related experience in either developing / administering partnership agreements / contracts with K-12 districts OR working with student support programs at the high school level or in higher education.

Major factors to be evaluated for an Outreach Coordinator may include :

  • Knowledge of principles of successful outreach and recruitment.
  • Effective leadership, training, and supervision.
  • Data analysis, statistical reporting and presentation methods.
  • Budget preparation, administration, and control.
  • Effective public relations, advertising, and marketing techniques.
  • Methods and practices of effective record keeping and report preparations.
  • College-based programs and services that serve diverse students and special populations.
  • California community college student success and equity legislation / regulations.
  • Program review, planning, and student learning outcomes assessment.
  • Skills and Abilities :

  • Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating high impact practices that facilitate student access, success and equity.
  • Successful development of relationships with community-based organizations, high schools, and other community groups.
  • Experience facilitating engaging presentations to diverse groups of students.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with professional, support staff, faculty both at the college, at local high schools and other outreach sites.
  • Conduct research, analyze data and present findings and prepare reports.
  • Coordinate, develop and implement services and activities to recruit, retain and assist students.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Experience in conducting informational workshops / presentations.
  • Experience in development of marketing plans and materials.
  • Experience in coordinating and / or supervising activities and staff.
  • Effective coordination and organizational skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff, and faculty.

    Conditions of Employment : SELECTED CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT : + Submit "official" college transcripts as stated on application (even if a degree is not a requirement for this position); + Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (Note : The certificate must be renewed every 4 years as a condition of continuing employment); + Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the District's expense (Clearance must be received prior to first day of employment); + Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States as required by the I9 Employment Eligibility Verification form; AND, + Attend a new hire processing appointment in People, Culture, and Technology Services located at the District Administrative Offices.

    EMPLOYMENT AFTER RETIREMENT If you accept a contract (permanent) position with SDCCD and are a retired annuitant with CalPERS or CalSTRS, you must reinstate from your retirement system. Please reference the CalPERS or CalSTRS website for further information.
