American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry / ED Hold position in an acute Level 1 trauma setting with a strong cardiac telemetry background required.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in an acute hospital setting on an ED Hold / Telemetry unitPatient population includes ED holds waiting for inpatient placement, primarily with MS / telemetry needsTypical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4Nurses are responsible for telemetry monitoring and interpretation; no monitor techs on unitCardiac telemetry skills are required, including titration of Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone dripsShifts are 12 hours, day or night, with self-scheduling available but subject to changeRequires 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks and working 2 out of 4 major holidaysFloating to Med / Surg / Tele / Overflow units and other EDs may be requiredCerner is used for documentation and chartingNurses will care for patients from the ER awaiting inpatient bed placement, with a focus on cardiac monitoringMay assist with ED patient care tasks such as vital signs, IV starts, and medication administration but are not assigned as primary ED nursesUnit has support from ED charge nurses and PCTsOrientation includes two shifts focused on Med / Surg / Tele at the main campusNavy scrubs are requiredMust work major holidays on rotation with staffNo on-call requirementFirst to float within designated units as neededReturning candidates cannot have been employed with CommonSpirit (CHI or Dignity) within the past year\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years of recent telemetry nursing experience, within the last 6 monthsStrong cardiac telemetry background with ability to titrate cardiac drips per physician ordersCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA or APEX) certifications requiredMust pass a dysrhythmia exam (Relias, 2 attempts max) within 48 hours of offerMust pass a Pass / Fail SIM LAB on day one of orientationMust provide valid driver's license upon considerationTwo professional references required : one supervisor from the last year and one peer or supervisor from the last three years, with employment dates and eligibility for rehire\n Benefits\n
