Overview
Substation Project Engineer role at Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI). ECI is a power engineering consultant providing engineering, system planning and studies, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning / testing and construction services to electric utilities, energy developers and industrials across the U.S. Our experience covers system voltages from 4.16 kV through 765 kV.
Responsibilities
- Conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new, upgraded and expanded substations.
- Material procurement, construction and commissioning / startup support through energization.
- Develop and deliver physical, electrical, civil and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits and specifications.
- Assist the Project Manager in planning and executing projects, including client and stakeholder coordination, training and mentoring of design staff, project quality assurance, and oversight of design engineers, designers, drafters and support staff.
- Coordinate specialized tasks with ECI\'s discipline groups (Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection / Relay Coordination, Civil Engineering, Communication / SCADA, Environmental Planning, Surveying, Lands / Right-of-Way, Project Management / Controls).
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Science or Master\'s degree in Electrical Engineering.6+ years of project and design engineering experience, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and planning skills; ability to work in a team environment; commitment to quality and accuracy; willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules.PE license is preferred.Advanced knowledge of power engineering principles; expert in applicable codes, standards and design tools; basic project management execution skills; ability to oversee and direct design personnel on a project team.Experience in utility or merchant power industry is a plus.Must be able to pass client-mandated drug and background checks. Occasional travel / driving required; applicant will be subject to ECI\'s auto insurance carrier requirements.Applicants must not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (e.g., H-1B).Salary and Benefits
