Accounting Clerk

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support a variety of financial tasks within our organization in Chesapeake, Virginia. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing accounts, reconciling data, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and strong communication skills to address diverse customer needs.

Responsibilities :

• Oversee and coordinate accounting tasks for complex accounts across multiple programs.
• Distribute and manage workloads effectively, while providing on-the-job training to team members.
• Apply foundational accounting principles and ensure compliance with appropriation laws and procurement regulations.
• Reconcile financial data, identify discrepancies, and make necessary adjustments to maintain accuracy.
• Respond to inquiries from a diverse customer base, providing clear and comprehensive solutions. Requirements - At least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 in federal service.
• Proficient understanding of double-entry accounting practices and financial systems.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance in financial transactions and reporting.
• Strong skills in accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and invoice processing.
• Experience using QuickBooks and performing accurate data entry.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
• Ability to pass a Public Trust background investigation.
• Federal salary payments require direct deposit participation.
