Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.

We are seeking a Community Liaison Specialist in Rockville, MD . The Community Liaison Specialist facilitates community inclusion for people with disabilities by supporting integration in the community. This person will work with individuals to build a natural support network, cultivate meaningful relationships, and help achieve goals.

Starting Rate $17.15 / hourly

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of the interests, goals, needs, and capacities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
• Support individuals with developing meaningful relationships in the community
• Help individuals work through issues and daily challenges
• Advise individuals on the appropriate behavior within different settings and circumstances
• Facilitate the Circles of Support by bringing friends, family, and staff together on a regular basis to help an individual realize their dreams and goals
• Increase the awareness of community inclusion within the organization and the community
• Recruit and train interns and volunteers doing community inclusion work
• Raise awareness with staff and community members on the rights of people with disabilities, discrimination, and the benefits of greater inclusion while helping to dispel ignorance and fear
• Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned
• Employee must cooperate with the license and department staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation
