MAX Fitness & Wellness of Hillsborough is hiring a full-time Assistant Manager to support our center’s daily operations, coaching excellence, and member experience, all while building your future in fitness leadership.

This position is designed for a motivated leader-in-training who will be developed and prepared to assume the General Manager role within 6–12 months based on performance.

This is a people-first, high-impact role that blends fitness coaching, community-building, schedule coordination, and sales.

You'll help drive class instruction, team support, and operational execution to deliver our signature 10-week signature transformation experience and year-round programs.

Who You Are  A certified and passionate fitness professional (group fitness or personal training) from a nationally accredited organization, or  A current MAX-certified instructor with 1+ years of class coaching experience  A natural leader who thrives on helping people succeed - members and teammates alike  A confident communicator who’s equally comfortable coaching classes and leading events  A team player with a flexible mindset, who’s willing to roll up their sleeves when needed  Someone who aligns with our core values (see below)  What You'll Do  Teach 10-15 45-minute group fitness classes per week across HIIT, Strength, and Cardio Kickboxing formats.   Help manage the class schedule, coordinate subs, and shadow / train new instructors  Support local marketing events and be available to attend at least two weekend community events per month  Assist the Center Manager with lead follow-up, membership sales, and member retention efforts  Capture content for social media and promotional campaigns  Keep accurate member records using ClubReady, and other systems  Uphold safety, cleanliness, and a high-energy environment at the center  Represent MAX in a way that inspires others to live stronger, healthier lives  Qualifications  Current CPR / AED certification  Valid group fitness or personal training certification (NASM, AFAA, ACE, etc.)  OR MAX Instructor Certification with 1+ year of coaching in The MAX model  Comfortable working a flexible 40-hour schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, based on center needs.  Familiar with (or able to learn) platforms like ClubReady, Go High Level, and Fran Connect  Compensation & Perks  $41,600 - $45,000 year base salary Performance bonuses available after a 90-day probation period  5 days PTO after 90 days | 15 total days PTO after 180 days Paid holidays (center-specific schedule)  Health insurance eligibility after 90 days  FREE gym membership at any MAX Fitness & Wellness location  30% or more off all NASM and AFAA certifications and continuing education  Growth and ongoing development opportunities!
