This role primarily is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing pricing strategies for all transportation modes, including ocean, air, and ground freight. This role is critical for maximizing profitability and market share by ensuring that pricing is competitive, dynamic, and reflective of market conditions and operational costs. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the global freight market and collaborates effectively with sales, operations, and procurement teams.

  • Communicate both orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
  • Develop and implement strategic pricing models and policies across all freight modes (ocean, air, road), with consideration for factors such as cost, capacity, and demand.
  • Oversee the entire quotation lifecycle, including managing responses to Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and bids from clients and overseas partners.
  • Conduct regular reviews of pricing and profitability to identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage negotiated transportation agreements.
  • Provide advisory information on the most cost-effective transportation solutions.
  • Continuously analyze market trends, competitor pricing, and industry changes to keep pricing strategies relevant and competitive.
  • Manage and maintain an up-to-date database of current market rates and competitor positions.
  • Lead negotiations with airlines, shipping lines, and other freight vendors to secure competitive rates, contracts, and optimal service levels.
  • Drive procurement initiatives and manage vendor relationships to ensure the best possible cost structure.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of pricing analysts and coordinators to achieve department goals. This includes :
  • o Conducting performance reviews and providing ongoing feedback.

    o Assigning tasks, monitoring daily workflows, and managing team resources.

    o Fostering a collaborative team environment.

    o Overseeing the training and development of junior team members.

  • Act as a key partner to the sales team by providing expert pricing guidance, developing bespoke solutions for complex shipments, and assisting in customer negotiations.
  • Work closely with the operations and finance teams to align pricing strategies with operational capabilities and profitability targets.
  • Ensure that all pricing activities and proposal processes are compliant with corporate, regional, and departmental policies.
  • Document pricing strategies and procedures to ensure consistency and integrity.
  • Generate and present pricing reports and analyses to senior management, providing insights on performance, profitability, and revenue optimization.

    Previous Work Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in freight forwarding, pricing, logistics, or a related field
  • Strong expertise in air and ocean freight is highly desired
  • Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance or a related field
  • Equivalent work experience will be considered
  • Experience Requirements and Preferences

  • Experienced in working with Freight Management Systems
  • o Proficiency with financial modeling and analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs), logistics software, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., CargoWise).

  • Proven ability to maintain relationships with air / ocean carriers and domestic transportation carriers (drayage and long haul)
  • o Exceptional negotiation and communication skills to manage relationships with carriers and clients

  • Strong understanding of financial concepts, including profitability, cost analysis, financial modeling, and forecasting.
  • Capacity to develop long-term pricing strategies that align with broader business goals and market dynamics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team while working effectively with cross-functional departments and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Innovative and proactive problem-solving abilities to develop creative transport and pricing solutions.
  • Proven strong business acumen

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify market trends, and develop sound pricing strategies.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Work Authorization / Security Clearance (if applicable)

    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. List any visa requirements, H1-B sponsorship, special clearances, etc.

    Work Environment
