Job Summary
The Programming Supervisor supports the daily operations and programming of the City Center Rink and other downtown parks including, but not limited to, Burnside Park, Biltmore Park, Gateway Center, and the Michael S. Van Leesten Memorial Bridge. This position is responsible for coordinating with community partners, businesses, and organizations to manage and expand programming, events, and engagement initiatives.
A key focus of this role is to grow group sales and bookings—primarily for The Providence Rink and secondarily for other Parks Department programs and venues. The supervisor will develop, promote, and manage group sales packages, private rentals, and event experiences to increase attendance, revenue, and community participation.
This position will work closely with the other Programming Supervisor to support marketing, social media, and newsletter content aimed at driving customers to The Providence Rink and related programs. They will also collaborate on pavilion and party rental bookings, taking a lead role in those areas primarily during the spring through fall seasons when their colleague transitions to support the Summer Meals Program.
This position involves regular night and weekend shifts during programming seasons. The Programming Supervisor reports to the Director of Athletic and Event Facilities. Funding for this position is provided through the City Center Revolving Fund and applicable grants.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, training, and supervision of seasonal staff (Assistant Managers, Ticket Sellers, Skate Hosts, etc.)
- Support scheduling of front-line staff and coordination of regular in-service training sessions
- Work collaboratively with the other Programming Supervisor to plan, coordinate, and promote programs, events, and rentals
- Partner on marketing, social media, and newsletter content to increase rink attendance and community participation
- Assist in booking and managing pavilion and party rentals, with emphasis on spring through fall seasons
- Manage day-to-day work order management and scheduling for City Center Rink
- Oversee event, facility, and programming project management
- Develop written content for websites, newsletters, grant applications, and other communications
- Lead and execute the social media and marketing plan for downtown programming
- Develop and maintain new and existing programs and events
- Build and grow group sales programs, including outreach to schools, corporate groups, tour operators, and community organizations
- Create and manage sales packages, pricing structures, and promotional campaigns for group bookings and private rentals
- Track and analyze group sales data and revenue performance through regular reporting
- Coordinate booking, communication, and logistics for featured performers and artists
- Manage audio and visual equipment setup and deployment for events
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships and sponsorship opportunities with local businesses and organizations
- Act as liaison between The Providence Rink and media outlets for event promotion
- Monitor, manage, and reconcile ticketing and group booking systems
- Provide monthly and seasonal reports on attendance, group sales, and program performance
- Stage and entertainment management, including artist coordination and scheduling
- Perform additional assigned tasks as directed
Minimum Qualifications
