Deliver the Graduate Jeweler (GJ) program curriculum while fostering an engaging, supportive, and efficient learning atmosphere for students attending the on-site GJ course.
Responsibilities
Instruct students in the On-Campus Graduate Jeweler Program, using jewelry manufacturing and repair equipment (torches, files, saws, micro-motor, polishing equipment, hand tools, audio-visual aids, and other materials) to supplement presentations.Impart appropriate and relevant course material consistent with GIA’s reputation, standards, and integrity.Address student concerns, complaints, or issues promptly; interface with Dean of Students, Manager, Education (Carlsbad) and / or other Education staff as needed for further action.Coach students regarding academic performance and methods for improvement.Maintain and foster sensitivity and respect for a culturally diverse classroom environment.Proctor tests; receive, correct, and process student assignments; submit final grades to management or Student Services per schedule.Other duties as assigned.Technical Competencies
In-depth knowledge of jewelry manufacturing and repair techniques and equipment; understanding of the jewelry industry.Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite; e-mail; Blackboard or other LMS).Ability to demonstrate theory and contemporary knowledge; continuing study in the field.Ability to present course material and provide feedback to students; interface effectively with staff and students.Strong communication and professional behavior under pressure.Education and Experience
High school diploma or GEDMinimum of three years related practical jewelry industry experienceBachelor’s degree and five years related experience preferredWhy Should You Apply?
