Job description

Each staff member is asked to help create an environment which encourages respect, honesty, and trust amongst all co-workers and also offers the highest degree of service to each customer; each staff member is asked to help maintain the store image as an ethical and positive place to work and to shop.

In addition, TPSS Co-op is committed to being an educational resource to the community on ecological, environmental, and food-related issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Verify price tags are present for all products in the department.
  • Rotate older stock to the front, making space for new stock.
  • Pull short-date or low-quality items and follow established procedures for recording and disposing.
  • Assist customers with product questions in a prompt, friendly, courteous manner, referring them to other staff when necessary.
  • Stock displays fully without overcrowding; face items on shelves.
  • Help with receiving deliveries and rotating overstock into backstock.
  • Clean up spills, remove trash promptly, and sweep and mop the floor.

Other duties as assigned.  QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Available to work at any time, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ability to perform stocking tasks.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience serving the public.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands.
  • Ability to project an outgoing, friendly personality.
  • Ability to stand and move around for long periods with and without accommodation.
  • Ability to work in cold and wet conditions.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and grow to meet the changing requirements of the job.
