Overview : This role serves as the frontline administrative support for a remote critical care transport base, ensuring smooth operational and administrative functions. Alongside leadership duties, the Advanced Critical Care Paramedic provides expert patient care during transport missions, adhering strictly to the approved scope of practice.
Education & Certifications : Candidates must hold current Critical Care Provider certification from an accredited institution or possess equivalent experience and training in critical care transport at the paramedic level. FP-C or CCP-C certification through BCCTPC is required within one year and must remain current to function in the flight paramedic capacity. Additional certifications include International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or equivalent, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses 100, 200, and 700. A valid driver's license equivalent to the regional standards is mandatory and must be maintained continuously.
Experience : A minimum of three years of recent, concurrent paramedic experience in emergency care within a critical care transport environment is essential. Leadership, outreach, or marketing experience is preferred to support the administrative aspects of the role.
Requirements & Skills : The position demands strong prioritization, multitasking, and communication skills. Candidates must demonstrate thorough knowledge of emergency medical procedures, rescue techniques, hazardous materials incidents, and pre-hospital care equipment. The ability to remain calm under high-stress situations, follow established protocols, and interact compassionately with patients and families is critical. Proficiency in operating various ambulance vehicles safely and knowledge of age-specific patient needs are required. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 150 pounds with assistance and meet visual acuity standards (corrective lenses allowed). Exposure to infectious materials is possible, and staff must adhere to safety protocols. For flight roles, a maximum duty weight of 240 lbs in uniform applies.
