About The Position

We are seeking a Nephrologist for a 48-day locum tenens assignment in Rhode Island starting Dec 1, 2025. This leadership opportunity features a flexible, part-time schedule (2 days per week, 8am-6pm) and focuses on launching a new Hemodialysis program within a long-term care setting serving primarily low-acuity patients.

  • Provider Type Needed : Nephrologist
  • Schedule : 2 days per week, flexible on days, 8am-6pm; initial time commitment is 90-95% administrative and 5-10% clinical

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead the development and launch of the Hemodialysis program / department
  • Oversee and direct certifications required for nursing staff
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring support staff for the program
  • Provide clinical care to post-transplant and dialysis patients as needed
  • Serve as the sole provider for a predominantly nursing home-level patient population, including individuals with dementia, distal muscular dystrophy, traumatic brain injuries, and other low-acuity medical needs
  • Collaborate with administration to customize equipment and support program growth
  • Ensure adherence to facility policies and clinical best practices
  • Additional Information

  • Active Rhode Island medical license required
  • Board certification in Nephrology required
  • Experience with starting a Hemodialysis program or department is essential
  • No ICU responsibilities; facility does not maintain an ICU
  • Patient population is largely adult / geriatric, with a focus on long-term care needs
