Operating Engineer 2 – Qualifications

• Minimum : Two years of experience or training in the operation or maintenance of large stationary engines or mechanical equipment.
• Special Requirement : For positions involving refrigerants, possession of an appropriate EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification (Section 608 of the Clean Air Act, 1990).

Level of Work : Experienced. Supervision received : General from a higher-level Operating Engineer or agency official. Supervision exercised : None. Function of Work : As above. Job Distinctions : Differ from Operating Engineer 1 by responsibility for boilers or power plants of 150 horsepower or more. Differ from Operating Engineer Master by absence of sole operator responsibility, lead-worker duties, direct supervision, or large institution with extensive energy management system.

Salary Range : $40,914 - $73,632 (WS212).
