Telemetry Technician - Flagstaff
Join Northern Arizona Healthcare as a Telemetry Technician in Flagstaff, AZ. This role is supervised by a Registered Nurse, Director, and Clinical Manager and focuses on the ongoing observation and documentation of patient cardiac rhythms.
Responsibilities
Measure telemetry rhythms every 6 hours and record data.
Monitor heart rhythm patterns to detect, record, and report normal and abnormal heart rhythms.Assess interval measurements and proper and improper pacemaker / implantable defibrillator function utilizing the telemetry monitoring equipment.EKG OperationsPrepare medical record information, print labels and face-sheets, make copies of rhythm sheets, and stock supplies.
Assess telemetry lead failures and replace leads while collaborating with nursing staff to correct failures.Review and obtain orders for 12-lead EKGs, ensuring the order is correctly entered and loaded into EMR.Ensure all telemetry packs have new / working batteries when used by patients.Lead placement and monitor set-up for telemetry admissions.CommunicationObtain list of nurses assigned to monitored patients at the beginning of each shift.
Communicate via telephone with the assigned Registered Nurse regarding admissions, discharges, rhythm changes, dysrhythmias, and vital signs outside the normal range.Communicate alarm setting changes with the Registered Nurse.Document all communication with the Registered Nurse.Compliance / SafetyReport any safety-related incidents in a timely manner through the Midas / RDE tool; attend all safety-related training programs.
Perform work in a safe manner and monitor the work environment for possible safety issues, ensuring others also perform work safely.Stay current with state and federal regulations / statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.Ensure all certifications and / or licenses are up-to-date and valid before expiration dates.Complete all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training within the specified time frame.Maintain timely and accurate documentation of rhythm measurements and communication.Qualifications
Education High School Diploma or GED – RequiredCertification & Licensures Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) – RequiredExperience Previous healthcare / patient care experience – PreferredPrevious Telemetry Monitoring experience – PreferredSeniority Level
