Unit Manager
Catholic Charities of Baltimore is seeking a Unit Manager who will be responsible for the therapeutic, administrative, and management functions of the Residential Treatment Center unit. The Unit Manager provides direct supervision of the direct care staff and collaborates with the unit psychiatrist, therapist, and the rest of the treatment team to ensure the consistent implementation of the program's policy and philosophy of residential care and treatment.
The work schedule may vary based on the need of the manager to observe, coach, and support their team. The Unit Manager should be prepared to be present at a minimum two evenings during the week and one weekend shift to ensure the opportunity for contact with all direct reports.
St. Vincent's Villa provides comprehensive residential treatment for children, ages 5-13, whose behavioral and emotional needs have not responded to community-based interventions and services.
Job duties and responsibilities include :
- Monitoring the therapeutic and physical environment of the unit to ensure a clean, safe, and organized milieu for the children and staff.
- Following trauma-informed care philosophy, Children and Residential Experiences (CARE) model to influence and guide programming and all interactions with children, families, and colleagues.
- Managing a team of 8-10. Hiring, orienting, training, evaluating, coaching, motivating, setting schedules for, approving payroll, and effectively supervising direct care staff.
- Providing an active and visible leadership presence within the milieu.
- This position requires accessibility by cell phone when away from the program and responds on-site for unit emergencies.
- Leading weekly unit staff meetings and taking a leadership role along with the psychiatrist and therapist in treatment team meetings.
- Collaborating with team members to develop and monitor the Individual Service Plans and Individualized Crisis Management Plans.
- Completing admissions to the unit / program.
- Attending weekly treatment team meetings to develop and monitor the ISP's and ICMP's.
- Managing the unit's budget by approving expenditures of unit staff and monitoring all expenditures to ensure appropriate use of agency resources.
- Working collaboratively with the Program Director of Clinical Services, Program Director for Outcomes and Utilization Management, Discharge Care Coordinator, and Admissions Coordinator.
- Becoming a CARE Educator or Coach.
- Facilitating the Consumer Quality Team visits.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and experience requirements include :
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in human services plus post-graduate education or training in the areas of nursing, healthcare, mental health, education, or childcare.5 years' experience in a residential treatment environment, 3 of which must be at a supervisory / management level.Required skills and abilities include :

Medium work that includes moving objects up to 40 pounds.Physically able to perform moves and holds outlined in TCI training; able to assist in physical restraints if needed.Driving (Agency and / or personal vehicle) is required for this position. Driver must be at least 21 years of age, with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, and a valid driver's license issued by the state of residence.
