Job Description

AECOM's Transportation business line has a position available in Piscataway, NJ or Bloomfield, NJ for a Senior Bridge Engineer . In this role the selected candidate will work on projects associated with various New Jersey-based Transportation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the development of comprehensive proposals for clients, including delivery of studies and design services, and formulate precise engineering budgets and schedules to meet stringent requirements.
  • Demonstrate exemplary leadership by working autonomously with minimal supervision and providing mentorship to junior engineers within the bridge group.
  • Conduct advanced technical analyses, including the development of innovative methodologies and techniques to address complex or unique engineering challenges.
  • Assume a primary technical design role, ensuring adherence to current design standards and industry best practices.
  • Execute rigorous quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings to maintain high accuracy and precision.
  • Collaborate with technical staff, overseeing their design and review processes to guarantee all deliverables meet AECOM's Quality Standards.
  • Develop detailed construction cost estimates and technical effort projections for projects of varying scales and complexities.
  • Produce reports and documentation for clients, review agencies, and the public, ensuring clarity and thoroughness.
  • Undertake significant project management responsibilities, including financial oversight, quality control, and schedule management for all assigned projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering + eight years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience or education
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in New York and / or New Jersey

    • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Ideally over 10 years in transportation structures design and construction with recent structural design experience
  • Master's Degree in appropriate engineering discipline is preferred
  • Recent experience delivering projects for a diverse client base in New York, including the New York Metro agencies
  • Familiarity with local Bridge Design Guidelines, Specifications and Technical Standards
  • Experience in successfully managing structural projects
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering a range of technical projects from new builds to rehabilitation
  • Working knowledge of Finite Element analysis and modelling
  • Familiarity with seismic design, structural codes, building codes, bridge design guidelines, specifications and standards
  • Experience coordinating inputs from drainage, roadway, lighting, aesthetics, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiating, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Relocation is not available for this position.

    • Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $150,000 $180,000
