About the Role :

  • A family-owned gourmet market offering both organic & conventional groceries, grab and go, deli foods, wine, beer & spirits seeks an Executive Chef.
  • This is a Corporate position responsible for overseeing the culinary teams of multiple locations and their food preparation process in the Prepared Foods counter and Grab and Go case.
  • The Executive Chef will oversee the creation of recipes, food costing, and training for the Prepared Foods program.
  • The Executive Chef will drive innovation and menu development while also leading culinary store leaders to excellence.
  • The elevated Prepared food program will cater and appeal to store customers, and drive sales to this growing department.
  • This role requires ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times.
  • Essential Functions :

  • Supervises production for all Prepared Foods venues.
  • Ensures that food quality, quantity, freshness, and presentation meet all health and company standards.
  • Maintains high productivity levels and ensures that kitchen schedules are kept within budget.
  • Ensures that production is done using the correct tools, measurements, and that all recipes are followed consistently.
  • Responsible for the catering production.
  • Minimizes waste and spoilage, keeps appropriate records and documents, and meets all related targets.
  • Provides outstanding customer service, leads by example, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner.
  • Models suggestive upselling techniques Responsible for hiring, training, retaining and motivating Kitchen Staff.
  • Maximizes sales potential across all Mollie Stone’s Markets through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.
  • Follows and complies, as well as ensures of team’s compliance, with established procedures including but not limited to :

  • Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintains and ensures maintenance of a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment.
  • Maintains equipment in accordance with cleanliness and food safety standards; ensures walk-ins and freezers are clean and organized.
  • Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensures accuracy of signs and pricing.
  • Immediately reports safety hazards and violations.
  • Responsible for SOP development and implementation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Corporate Leadership.
  • Minimum Qualifications :

  • Ten years' experience managing staff and operations across multiple grocery locations.
  • Min of five (5) years of Executive Chef experience in full-service restaurants, hospitality, or grocery culinary departments.
  • Knowledge and handling experience with a variety of dietary foods.
  • Background in food retail / grocery is critical.
  • Training and Development experience.
  • MS Office experience, including Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Experience with Food Management Software.

  • Physical Requirements :

  • Lifting : min. of 50 lbs.
  • Standing :

  • Up to 8 hours per day.
  • Seating :

  • Up to 1 hour per day Walking : Up to 8 hours per day Reaching : Up to 6 hours per day.                Supervisory Responsibility : All Kitchen Chef’s.
  • Travel Requirements :

  • Travel as needed (75-100%) around the SF Bay area.
  • Travel between stores and corporate office.
