Accounting Clerk
Performs a wide variety of accounting clerical work involving the preparation, processing, maintenance and review of financial and statistical records, including the areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable and / or payroll.
What You Will Do
Examines and verifies that entries, postings and totals are accurate and supporting documents are included in reports.
Prepares and processes a variety of bills and invoices; including accounts payable vouchers and purchase orders.
Codes, posts, checks and balances documents into accounts.
Reconciles account records; including locating and correcting errors in accordance with the County and State accounting policies.
Gathers, prepares, tabulates and checks financial and statistical reports.
Maintain and files fiscal records / files and vendor files.
Prepares and balances deposits; including petty cash, also sets up cash drawers for the next day's transactions.
Resolves problems by contacting vendor(s) and / or other County departments / divisions.
Assists with customer service, answering phones and sorting and distributing mail.
Reconciles and balances County warrants with original documents to maintain accurate record of financial transactions.
Researches and prepares reports and documents for supervisors, customers and state and local agencies.
Prepares fiscal data for use in budget preparation
Collects and processes payments; including the resolution of delinquent accounts.
Reviews and processes documents for assigned payrolls; including non-contractual, day care, mental health and child welfare.
Processes Child Welfare Medicaid and entitlements.
Conducts audits on payroll, refunds and State Administrative Adjustments.
Knowledge of the TRAILS, CFMS, EBT and other systems pertaining to Child Welfare and payrolls.
Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
What You Have
EDUCATION : Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in the field of Accounting or Finance required
EXPERIENCE : Minimum of three (3) years or more experience in accounting, finance or bookkeeping required
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT : Must successfully pass background check Required
