\n\nJob Description\n

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) RN is responsible for the recovery and monitoring of patients who have undergone surgical procedures requiring anesthesia. This role necessitates strong critical care skills as patients will be recovered from the OR, EP Lab, Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, MRI, or from the ICU.

\n\nResponsibilities\n \n

  • Monitor and assess patients in the PACU, ensuring safe and effective recovery post-anesthesia.

    • \n

  • Provide care to patients recovering from a variety of surgical procedures including but not limited to : vascular, neurosurgery, orthopedics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, and pediatric cases.

    • \n

  • Administer medications and manage intravenous therapy efficiently.

    • \n

  • Recognize and manage dysrhythmias and conduct cardiac monitoring.

    • \n

  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care.

    • \n

  • Coordinate discharge plans and manage patient flow from Phase I to Phase II recovery.

    • \n \n\nRequired Experience / Certifications / Licensure\n \n

  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, with preferred background in PACU and ICU.

    • \n

  • Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required.

    • \n

  • Experience with medications such as antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants, and emergency medications is preferred.

    • \n

  • Ability to manage ventilated patients and conduct pre / post-operative care.

    • \n

  • Charge nurse experience and pediatric PACU experience is preferred.
