Job Description :
This role involves providing patient care support under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed Nurse. The Certified Nursing Assistant will perform routine and repetitive patient care activities in an acute care setting, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
- Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
- Complete pertinent documents.
- Prepare rooms for admission by setting up IV pots and adjusting bed levels.
- Ensure patient belongings are transported to new units or home at time of discharge.
- Safely transport stable patients as required.
- Maintain security and confidentiality when transporting patients and interacting with family and visitors.
- Clean, procure, and return equipment and supplies.
- Run errands for the unit as needed.
- Assist Licensed personnel in maintaining a safe and comfortable environment.
- Perform unit-specific patient care tasks according to skills checklist and document on flowsheet.
- Identify obvious changes in patient condition and report promptly to nurse in charge.
- Assist with ordering and maintenance of stock items when needed.
- Keep unit supplies organized and orderly.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Communicate effectively with team members during and between shifts.
- Respond to phone calls and patient call lights.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
This role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, preferably with patient care experience in an acute care setting. A CNA License in the state of employment is mandatory, along with BLS certification.
