Veteran Outreach Coordinator

Position Description :

Are you a veteran or first responder looking to continue serving your community in a new way? Join the BRAVE Program-an innovative, life-changing initiative focused on traumatic brain injury recovery for those who have served our communities. As our Outreach Specialist, you'll travel throughout the Midwest representing BRAVE, building partnerships, and helping individuals access transformative care.

This is a mission-driven role that blends community travel with administrative and coordination responsibilities. While you'll attend outreach events across the Midwest-often about once per week on average-travel demands tend to increase during the spring through fall months. Most weeks also include office-based work such as partnership development, communication planning, and program follow-up. Occasional overnight stays and weekend events are part of the outreach calendar.

Primary Responsibilities

Represent BRAVE at community events, alumni activities, health fairs, and outreach events across the Midwest

Develop outreach partnerships with veterans' groups, first responder agencies, and other regional organizations

Coordinate and execute communications including email campaigns, social media posts, website updates, and print materials

Schedule and support internal and external outreach meetings, site visits, and special events

Support BRAVE's alumni and peer support programming through ongoing engagement and event facilitation

Collect and report data on outreach efforts and communications impact to help guide strategy

Collaborate with the Case Management team on patient referrals and follow-up

Serve as a knowledgeable and compassionate ambassador for BRAVE's services and mission

Ensure compliance with regulatory and institutional policies during all outreach activities

Preferred Schedule : 8 - 4 : 30

Position Requirements :

Minimum Qualifications :

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis

Bachelor's Degree

3 years of relevant professional experience

Preferred Qualifications :

2 or more years of experience in a volunteer program

1 or more years of experience working with Veteran outreach programs, including managing development, implementation, and operations

1 or more years of experience generating and developing veteran referral sources

1 or more years of experience working within a higher education and / or medical environment

BRAVE (Building Resilience through Action in Veterans and First Responders) is a Traumatic Brain Injury recovery program specifically designed for military veterans and first responders. It is an intensive, outpatient initiative offered through Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin. BRAVE is one of the first programs of its kind in the Midwest and one of only a few across the United States-established through the generosity of the Avalon Action Alliance.
