We are hiring remarkable summer camp staff to serve our kitchen area! Join our summer camp team and make $500 per week.

We are seeking a high-energy Kitchen Lead who will lead and supervise all aspects of camp food service including meal planning, purchasing, and preparation. This individual will ensure that the nutritional needs of campers and camp staff are met and will work in partnership with the kitchen assistants, camp support staff, interns, and / or volunteers to prepare and deliver nutritious meals.   • The Ideal Candidate Should Be...

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Experience working in a commercial kitchen is preferred.
  • Hold a current ServSafe Food Handler certification, or be willing to obtain one.
  • Visual / auditory ability to respond to environmental and other hazards.
  • Ability to respond calmly in a crisis situation.
  • Knowledge of commercial kitchen appliances, operations, and cleaning preferred.
  • Ability to assess cleanliness of dishes, food surfaces, and kitchen area.
  • Ability to assess the condition of food.
  • Excellent customer service, including the ability to maintain a calm demeanor with adults in conflict.
  • Excited to be outdoors and work with youth.
  • Interested or experienced in camp and guiding youth in a variety of activities.
  • Energetic and has a desire to grow future girl leaders.
  • Certified or able to become Red Cross First Aid / CPR / AED certified.
  • Willing to stay in Mindoro, WI for the entire summer and live onsite with our campers.
  • Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program and enroll as a Girl Scout member.

  • What You Will Do :

  • Plan and prepare nutritionally balanced menus, according to the caloric and nutritional needs of the majority audience, within the designated budget.
  • Supervise, schedule, and evaluate assigned kitchen staff, working with the leadership team to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Coordinate with Head Counselors for anticipated numbers at each meal.
  • Ensure that all bagged or boxed meals are fulfilled on time and with accuracy.
  • Post weekly menus and update them as necessary, highlighting allergen information and other food-related special needs.
  • Prepare and place the approved food / supply order with pre-selected vendor(s).
  • Interpret and maintain Food Safety, ACA, and GSUSA standards for health and safety in the kitchen.
  • Be responsible for proper use and care of kitchen equipment, informing appropriate staff of any problems and / or repairs needed.
  • Provide assistance to other areas of camp when requested.
  • Work closely with Camp Director to keep them informed of kitchen progress, planning, and any concerns with the kitchen or kitchen staff.
  • Supervise daily opening and closing of kitchen, ensuring that proper food safety protocols are fulfilled and cleaning measures are executed completely.
  • Oversee the inventorying process, making certain that the proper process is followed so that all items purchased are necessary and will be used.
  • Create and complete necessary reports and tracking sheets.
  • Keep track of feedback, comments, and concerns throughout the summer to complete an evaluation of the program at the end of the season.
  • Assist in the opening and closing procedures of camp, including staff training.
  • Comprehend and implement emergency procedures through regular practice drills.
  • Maintain the health and safety of campers.
  • Create a safe and inclusive environment for both campers and other staff.
  • Physical & Other Requirements :

    The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to withstand :

  • Living and sleeping in a rustic outdoor environment.
  • Working irregular hours : early mornings, nights, and weekends.
  • Lifting and / or moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Walking, hiking, and working outdoors in wooded areas and on uneven natural paths.
