Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic and influential Manager, IT Procurement to lead IT category management, strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier governance, and contract execution across multiple technology spend categories. In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, lead complex cross-functional initiatives, and develop sourcing strategies that reduce total cost of ownership, optimize supplier performance, and support enterprise-wide goals including cost savings, supplier diversity, standardization, and sustainability.
This is a hybrid role, requiring flexibility to work both remotely and in the Oakland office based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute IT category strategies that drive cost savings, service excellence, and supplier performance.
- Lead the full lifecycle of sourcing initiatives, including spend analysis, benchmarking, needs assessment, and business case development.
- Oversee contract governance from creation to award, ensuring compliance and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Manage multiple IT spend categories across software, hardware, services, and emerging technologies.
- Direct and guide a team of Sourcing Supervisors, Category Leaders, and Sourcing Specialists.
- Lead negotiation strategies for multi-million-dollar contracts ranging from $500,000 to $10 million .
- Build and maintain high-quality supplier relationships that support continuous improvement and mutual value creation.
- Drive standardization, process optimization, supplier consolidation, and diversity spending initiatives.
- Establish and monitor service level agreements to ensure supplier accountability.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to internal portfolio clients, ensuring strong partnership and service delivery.
- Measure and enhance customer satisfaction through defined service level standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.8+ years of sourcing, strategic procurement, or relevant industry experience.Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.Demonstrated experience in category management and contract governance.Leadership experience managing procurement teams or specialists.Desired Qualifications
MBA or advanced degree.Experience in the utility, energy, or regulated industry .Background in procurement transformation initiatives.2–3 years of supervisor or people management experience .Proficiency with SAP, SRM, or similar procurement systems .Project management experience.
