Job Description
We are seeking an experienced QA Engineer to support quality assurance efforts across software development projects in a hybrid Agile environment. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in manual and automated testing, test planning, requirements traceability, and defect management. This role requires close collaboration with Scrum teams to ensure timely, high-quality software releases.
Responsibilities
Develop, write, and execute detailed test plans and test cases.
Ensure requirements traceability throughout the testing lifecycle and support usability assessments.
Collaborate with Scrum teams in an Agile environment to support sprint planning, testing, and delivery.
Manage and track defects in Jira; categorize, prioritize, and maintain clear documentation of issues.
Use Xray Test Case Management tool to structure, execute, and track testing assets.
Perform SQL queries (CRUD operations) to validate data and support backend testing.
Conduct API testing using Postman or similar tools.
Develop and execute automated test cases for authentication, user roles, and authorization workflows.
Perform multiple types of testing, including unit, integration, regression, smoke, UAT, system, stress, and performance testing.
Utilize UFT for QA automation scripting and execution.
Use code coverage tools and apply system / process analysis to support testing effectiveness.
Communicate clearly with technical teams, stakeholders, and end users regarding findings, requirements, and issues.
Provide responses to inquiries related to errors, defects, or testing questions.
Work under tight deadlines while maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail.
Self-manage work assignments, prioritize tasks, and contribute to overall project milestones.
Accurately track work time and estimate tasks or enhancements.
Support accessibility testing using WCAG 2.1 AA standards and assistive technology tools.
Qualifications
Proven experience creating test cases, test plans, and executing end-to-end QA processes.
Strong knowledge of SDLC, software usability concepts, and requirements traceability.
Hands-on experience with Jira and SharePoint in an Agile / Scrum environment.
Proficiency in defect tracking, analysis, and reporting.
Experience with Xray Test Case Management.
Ability to write SQL queries for CRUD operations.
API testing experience (Postman or similar).
Experience with QA automation using UFT.
Familiarity with code coverage tools and Object-Oriented Programming concepts (preferred).
Experience with accessibility testing tools and WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex technical information.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a sprint team.
Ability to handle multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.
Experience with Texas Health & Human Services (HHS) systems (preferred).
