We are currently seeking candidates to apply for a full-time Mechanical Development Engineer position to play an important role in the development of a new product line.

Position Description :

Zaiput’s current and forthcoming products cover a wide range of applications from laboratory scale to production units. In this context, we are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to provide substantial contribution to our product design and R&D efforts. The responsibilities of the job will include participating in brainstorming, design, building and testing to continually improve our current devices, generate prototypes for products under development and launch new products. The work involved in this project is cutting-edge and requires a highly skilled, creative individual possessing strong applied design capabilities. While the products will be the result of teamwork, because of the required multidisciplinary approach, the mechanical engineer will have a key role in the design of the mechanical and fluidic components of the systems. Importantly, the multidisciplinary nature of Zaiput’s work requires the teams to keep tight internal interaction and have excellent communication.

The variety of responsibilities and broadness of the tasks makes this position an exciting professional opportunity for a very motivated, driven engineer. Responsibilities include :

  • \tDesigning and testing components and subassemblies for current and future product lines
  • \tGenerating 2D and 3D design packages to internal drawing standards
  • \tGenerating and maintaining Bill of Materials for multiple products
  • \tGathering quotes for components and managing suppliers to source development materials.
  • \tParticipating in engineering design reviews
  • \tTriaging field issues and converting those issues into product changes
  • \tPrototyping fixes and features using on-site machine shop and tools
  • \tGenerating documentation for engineering verification, SOP’s, and concept development
  • \tNurturing a product line from concept to production release

Desired skills and experience :

  • \tBSME or MSME from accredited university
  • \t4-5 years of experience in engineering design, preferably in a smaller team environment.
  • \tExcellent knowledge of the fundamentals of engineering
  • \tDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • \tFlexibility in undertaking and participating in different tasks and activities.
  • \tDemonstrated eagerness to learn and grow in a collaborative team environment.
  • \tDemonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional manner.
  • \tExcellent technical writing skills
  • \tExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to understand and present technical details.
  • \tExcellent task management and prioritization skills.
  • \tProficiency in SolidWorks, Labview, Arduino
  • \tAt least some knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting is required.
  • \tAbility to travel on occasions internationally to assist on customer installs
  • \tExperience programming CNC milling centers is a valuable plus
  • \tExperience in a manufacturing setting is a valuable plus
  • \tExperience in Solidworks PDM, is a valuable plus
