Summary :

The purpose of this position is to provide overall clinical and operational management in collaboration with the Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in managed service areas.

Responsibilities :

• Manage the day to day operations of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation services, inclusive of coordinating all staffing activities to meet staffing targets and monthly productivity projections; review, analyze and resolve medical staff issues; provide leadership through initiating and monitoring change through the identification of opportunities for best practice of patient / family centered care, and process improvement; manage communicate and involve staff at all levels in process improvement to include the development of protocols, critical pathways, programmatic development and change, team building, and the consideration of operational issues.
• Perform personnel management functions for the designated area including performance management, hiring, orienting, coaching / mentoring, training, professional development, in collaboration with the director. Serve as mentor and role model to Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation staff and students. Assist in the leadership development of Team Leaders.
• Provide direct therapy services to patients in accordance with standards of practice; exemplify professional patient and staff relations and hold departmental staff accountable for conformity with the standards in all activities.
• Establish, implement and regularly review department policy and procedure for compliance with all regulatory requirements as well as to achieve overall Hospital mission; assist in the development and implementation of the PM&R quality assessment and improvement program objectives; review, approve and forward incident reports related to risk management objectives and initiatives.
• Assist the Director in planning future development of the department, including setting goals and objectives and creating programs to attain them; assist with the preparation, analysis, and evaluation of the operational capital budgets, strategic plan, and strategic marketing plan; participate in monitoring and controlling the operational and capital budgets within administrative guidelines; and present creative strategies to foster cost benefit and revenue enhancement.
• Assume other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area.
