Accounting Manager

OnScent is seeking a dynamic Finance & Accounting Manager who will play a pivotal role in overseeing our accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance processes . The ideal candidate will be a technically strong accountant with demonstrated leadership skills, deep knowledge of GAAP, and proven experience optimizing systems such as NetSuite. You will : take on increasing responsibility for financial reporting, cash flow management, and strategic planning; demonstrate leadership by building a scalable accounting function and mentoring staff and, become a trusted financial advisor to the executive team.

This role is critical to shaping and building the finance team by being onsite at our Hackensack, NJ location, although hybrid arrangements may be considered in the future.

Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to :

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger.
• Lead monthly and year-end close processes, ensuring timely , accurate financial statements.
• Prepare and analyze balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Oversee cost accounting, inventory valuation, and reserve calculations (E&O, shrink).
• Maintain 13-week cash forecast model and monitor liquidity.
• Establish and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate external audits and tax filings, serving as primary contact for auditors.
• Oversee risk and insurance requirements.
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
• Conduct financial analysis to support investment, cost optimization, and business decisions.
• Lead process improvement and automation initiatives, leveraging NetSuite to enhance efficiency and reporting capabilities.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial visibility and decision-making.
• Assume broader responsibilities in reporting, cash management, and strategic finance as part of ongoing career development.
