We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Project Manager - EX to join the team!

The Chief Project Manager - EX will :

Build a capable, cooperative and supportive team for the development, manufacturing, testing, certification, and sustaining engineering of major Government Furnished Equipment end items for engineering projects.

Collaborate with NASA in developing Systems Engineering and Integration (SEI) people, processes and tools.

Mentor Project Management (PM) and SEI personnel in critical thinking, decision making and behaviors to improve PM effectiveness and create high performing teams.

Apply SE&I and Project Management processes and tools in the development, sustainment or operation of human rated flight hardware or systems.

Direct and hold accountable matrix organizations in the requirements development, design, manufacturing, testing, and certification of flight hardware.

Plan and execute hardware troubleshooting to investigate issues within flight hardware, development or qualification test articles, or test support hardware.

Review and evaluate the quantity, quality, and overall adequacy of results and conclusions drawn from accomplishment of engineering tasks.

Select and apply engineering techniques and procedures to analyze and evaluate specific problems, data, or other features of the work which are broad in scope and complexity.

Define, communicate and mitigate project and program risks and opportunities.

Address project problems in a timely and straightforward manner.

Establish a healthy project environment.

Foster strong, healthy customer relationships.

Coordinate and support flight hardware products and systems development phases, through design, procurement, fabrication, test, data analysis, certification, and flight / mission delivery.

Develop proposals and interface with program customers to present proposals

Requisition Qualifications :

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and normally possess 5-10 years of related experience.

Position requires close coordination with the NASA Branch Managers, NASA Project

Managers, NASA SEI Managers, Artemis and Gateway Subsystem Managers, ISS

Subsystem SMEs, and ISS / Orion program representatives. Strong written and verbal communication skills is a must.

Extensive experience with ISS flight hardware Class 1 processes and projects.

Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field (including space flight hardware development and certification processes), such as mechanical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, environmental testing, and office software.

Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules and to work unsupervised for long periods.

Background in flight hardware development, testing, analysis and certification.

Knowledge or experience in Test and Verification of human rated systems.

Strong leadership to motivate and inspire others, achieve high customer satisfaction and gain cooperation of others.

Perform cost and schedule estimating and management functions.

Perform risk management including risk assessment and implementation of risk reducing measures.

Preferences :

Familiar with JSC organizations, processes, and procedures.

Familiarity with the Engineering Life Cycle process.

Knowledge or experience in mission planning and analysis.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
