Safety Manager
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs that ensure a safe and compliant warehouse environment. This role leads safety initiatives, conducts training, audits, and investigations, and partners with leadership to drive a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. The Safety Manager acts as the primary point of contact for OSHA compliance, risk management, and associate safety training, helping to reduce workplace incidents and ensuring that all associates work in a safe, productive environment.
Safety Program Management
- Develop, implement, and enforce warehouse safety policies, procedures, and SOPs in alignment with OSHA and company standards.
- Lead the Trailer Dock Release (TDR) program, Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) safety compliance, and other warehouse-specific safety initiatives.
- Maintain up-to-date safety manuals, documentation, and training records in conjunction with the learning manager.
Training & Coaching
Oversee onboarding safety training for all new hires and ensure ongoing refresher training for current associates.Conduct specialized safety training for PIT certification, hazard awareness, and emergency response.Coach associates and leaders on safe work practices, PPE use, and hazard recognition.Audits & Inspections
Conduct regular safety audits of docks, racking, PIT equipment, PPE usage, and overall warehouse conditions.Ensure all incidents, near misses, and hazards are documented, investigated, and followed up with corrective actions.Prepare for and support external OSHA or regulatory inspections.Incident Management & Reporting
Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective / preventive measures.Maintain records of incidents, injuries, and near misses, and track trends to identify areas for improvement.Provide regular safety performance reports to leadership, including leading and lagging indicators.Collaboration & Leadership
Partner with Operations, HR, and Learning teams to align safety training, coaching, and compliance efforts.Act as a visible leader on the floor, reinforcing a safety-first culture through presence and communication.Serve as a resource to Area Managers and Leads in addressing safety concerns and ensuring consistent enforcement of policies.Qualifications
Required
35 years of safety, compliance, or risk management experience (warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing preferred).Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, warehouse safety standards, and accident prevention programs.Experience leading incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail.Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training certification.Experience managing PIT safety programs and certifications.Prior leadership or management experience in a warehouse or operations environment.Pay Range : $100,000 - $115,000 USD
