About the Role

We are on the lookout for a developer efficiency engineer to oversee our monorepo and the production pathway for more than 50 engineers who commit over 75 changes daily with continuous deployment to production. This role presents a thrilling challenge for you to utilize your skills to enhance our engineering team's productivity significantly. You will have the opportunity to work with a multi-cloud and multi-region infrastructure that caters to a global clientele. Our monorepo primarily uses Javascript / Typescript, with some components in Go and Python. While your main focus will be on developer efficiency, a solid grasp of computer science principles and development practices is essential for success within our codebase. Your onboarding will include a significant commitment to writing and delivering features to develop a deep understanding of our current development workflow.

This ownership manifests in various ways : you will lead and deliver projects from inception to completion, collaborate directly with clients to address their most pressing scaling challenges, and have a considerable say in the initiatives we pursue as a team and a company.

Some of the challenges you'll tackle include :

• Own the build : Take responsibility as the single-threaded owner for the build / test / deploy process of our software and how each team integrates into it.
• Monorepo productivity : Streamline our build / test / deploy patterns, allowing teams to move quickly without hindering one another. Explore and implement tools like turbo repo to accelerate builds and clarify roles.
• Drive excellence in testing : Enhance our visibility into test coverage at both top-down and team levels, supporting an expanding array of data sources, destinations, and enrichment patterns. An exceptional engineer in this position will reflect on our development teams, assisting each team in identifying areas of improvement.
• Multi-Region and Multi-Cloud : Facilitate the support of our multi-region and multi-cloud backend, including extending services to launch Hightouch in new regions to comply with global customer data residency requirements.
• Operational excellence : Increase our capacity to detect issues prior to production deployment and respond swiftly should they arise.

While this is a senior role, we prioritize your impact and growth potential over the number of years of experience. The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $320,000 USD annually, reflecting our remote-first policy. In addition, we offer meaningful equity compensation through ISO options, incorporating early exercise and a 10-year post-termination exercise window.

You've driven significant productivity enhancements for a development team exceeding 50 members by making impactful changes to build / test / deploy processes. Although you may have a background in infrastructure, this role focuses more on development : you possess strong foundational skills in programming and are adept at implementing framework-level improvements across multiple teams.
