Title : FIRE Foundry Fuels Crew Supervisor
Department : Natural Resources
Reports To : FIRE Foundry Fuels Crew Coordinator
Location : San Geronimo, CA
FLSA Status : Full-Time, Non-Exempt from Wage and Hour Laws
Directly Supervises : 8-16 FIRE Foundry Program Participants
Role with Agency : Supervisory
Position Schedule : 40 hours : Monday & Wednesday 12pm-5pm.
Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday 7am-5 : 30pm.
Starting in January, Monday & Wednesday shift is 1 : 30-6 : 30pm
SUMMARY
The FIRE Foundry Supervisor will make significant contributions to providing a positive work environment that values diversity and fosters commitment to teamwork and learning for the FIRE Foundry Program. The FIRE Foundry Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of supervision for a crew of up to 16 young adults for the work experience portion. The FIRE Foundry Supervisor will lead the crew in successfully completing a wide range of fire fuel reduction projects as part of the FIRE Foundry program. The FIRE Foundry Program is a collaboration between Conservation Corps North Bay, Marin County Fire Department, and the College of Marin to establish a community-oriented wildfire prevention workforce by providing education, mentorship, job training and skills development for underserved, underrepresented, and underfunded youth in Marin County.
RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but not limited to) :
Leading crew members toward successful completion of fire fuel reduction projects such as shaded fuel breaks, pile burn preparation, invasive species removal, and other vegetation management projects.

The FIRE Foundry Supervisor works outdoors around equipment and machinery, walking on uneven ground and steep hillsides, with exposure to excessive noise, fumes and extremes in temperature. They may be expected to lift and move objects weighing up to 75 lbs, and carry objects at least ½ mile. This position frequently uses special visual and auditory protective equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the FIRE Foundry Supervisor is required to walk and stand; sit and bend; squat and climb; kneel and twist; to talk and hear. The FIRE Foundry Supervisor uses hands to operate objects, tools, or controls; and reaches with hands and arms. The FIRE Foundry Supervisor uses hands to perform simple and power grasping, and fine manipulation; to push and pull.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The FIRE Foundry Supervisor position is a full-time, non-exempt position which is eligible for a full benefits package (Medical, Dental, Vision, Chiropractic, 403(b) retirement, paid time off, and holiday pay). The starting pay for this position is $27.00-$29.00 / hour depending on experience.
