Manager - Rental Services Shop at MacAllister Machinery Co., Inc.
Overview
Lead the Rental Services Shop, overseeing service operations, customer relations, profit and safety performance.
Responsibilities
- Service operations leader with accountability for all results (profitability, customer perspective, rework, quality, turnover, employee attitudes, etc.) within span of control.
- Maintain and coordinate the entire service function, managing the service and repair of equipment, ensuring price, quality and turnaround.
- Maintain a customer-driven work area focused on price, quality, and turnaround.
- Schedule work and coordinate daily shop functions emphasizing time and cost goals; measure and evaluate jobs completed on time and at a profit.
- Communicate with customers, management, suppliers and technicians to assure smooth shop operation.
- Direct Leadmen and technicians, planning future training and development, with strong emphasis on coaching.
- Assist in troubleshooting and repair of equipment as needed to support timely repair and coaching of technicians.
- Manage work in process, estimates / quotes, and work order functions.
- Assure strong relationships with customers by timely follow-up with quotes, phone calls, questions, etc.
- Control shop expenses relative to volume of work and understand interplay of rework, variance, safety, tool expense, etc. for overall profit.
- Meet profit / employee objectives.
- Establish and maintain a high-performing group of employees who exceed expectations, communicate and practice corporate culture, and participate in hiring, firing, evaluation, training and development within span of control.
- Meet all safety goals of the department and promote a safe work environment through good housekeeping and hazard elimination.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
High school education or equivalent, with additional training preferred through vocational school in diesel technology.Minimum five years' experience in diesel technology and three years customer service experience.Strong work ethic, initiative, and commitment to accomplishing tasks.Ability to set goals and align with company objectives.Desire to develop and coach employees, setting example of desired behaviors.Loyalty and commitment to company overall objectives.Excellent knowledge of product and product market.Professionalism, ethical behavior, and friendly, courteous treatment of peers and customers.Excellent database computer skills and ability to operate industry-specific PC and mainframe programs (Microsoft Word, Excel).Employment Details
