American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit night shift position caring for mixed acuity oncology surgical patients, requiring at least two years of experience and an OH or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a mixed acuity Progressive Care Unit serving both PCU and Med Surg oncology surgical patientsPatient population includes adults and geriatrics with surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, plastics, and reconstructive cancer casesBusy surgical floor with all permanent staff PCU trainedStaffing ratios typically 1 : 4, may be 1 : 5 based on unit needsShift is nights (3x12 hours, 19 : 00-7 : 30), with D / N option availableWeekend work required on a variable basis per unit needsSelf-scheduling requests allowed, but no set or blocked schedulingCharting is done using Epic EMRCare for surgical oncology patients including those with breast, thyroid, melanoma, liver, pancreas, spleen, biliary tract, and colorectal cancersPerform chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and respond to oncologic emergencies such as cytokine release syndromeManage insulin and heparin drips and maintain strict infection prevention and fall protocolsInitial orientation includes one week of Mon-Fri dayshift, followed by 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptorIndividuals residing outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to Ohio for fingerprinting as soon as contract is signedVacation or time-off requests must be submitted upfront and built into the contractLocal candidates are accepted at the same pay rateFirst time travelers are welcome to apply\n \n Requirements\n
Active OH or compact RN license in hand at the time of considerationMinimum of two years recent PCU or similar acuity nursing experience requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredEducation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program requiredONS Chemo certification preferredMust provide two professional references, with at least one from a supervisor or managerFormer employees eligible after a six-month break; current employees are not eligible for travel positions at this facility\n Benefits\n
