Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring L&D-specific experience and current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an 8-bed Labor & Delivery unit caring for L&D, postpartum, antepartum, and newborn / infant patients under 28 days old
  • Includes Level 2A Nursery responsibilities and occasional care for Gyn- Surgicals / Mastectomy post-op patients
  • Patient ratios are 1 : 2 for laboring patients and 1 : 3-4 for couplets
  • 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend rotation
  • Epic EMR is used in this facility
  • Floating may occur to med / surg units as helping hands or within scope of practice
  • On-call is scheduled based on census and rotation
  • Three holidays scheduled plus one on-call holiday on a rotating basis
  • Responsible for care throughout L&D, postpartum, antepartum, nursery, and support of sick infants
  • Centralized fetal monitoring is utilized on the unit
  • Support staff includes 24 / 7 lab and RT coverage, in-house hospitalist, and a charge nurse covering all units
  • Typical orientation period is one week, adjusted according to prior experience
  • Hospital-provided scrubs are required
  • Free parking is available on-site
  • Two gold ticket time-off requests per year are permitted, with requests submitted prior to next schedule posting
  • Travelers are welcomed and facility is known for being traveler-friendly

  • Active SD or compact RN license required
  • Minimum of 1 year of L&D-specific nursing experience required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required prior to consideration
  • Completion of a board-approved nursing education program
  • Proficiency in EFM interpretation and both adult and neonatal assessment skills
  • Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility
  • Permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers accepted if experienced in L&D
