Job description

Job Summary :

We are seeking a skilled Automation Technician with hands-on experience in building, wiring, troubleshooting, and repairing control and electrical panels . The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industrial automation systems, electrical schematics, and panel layout, and must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assemble and wire control panels according to schematics, layout drawings, and electrical codes.
  • Install electrical components such as PLCs, relays, terminal blocks, HMIs, power supplies, circuit breakers, and VFDs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints , wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Troubleshoot and repair existing control panels and automation systems in the shop or at customer sites.
  • Perform testing and validation of panels to ensure correct operation before deployment.
  • Assist with field installations , startup, and commissioning of automation systems.
  • Modify and upgrade control systems to meet customer specifications or performance requirements.
  • Maintain proper documentation of wiring changes, repairs, and panel modifications.
  • Adhere to all company safety standards, practices, and procedures.
  • Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other team members to complete projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification in Electrical Technology, Industrial Automation, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in electrical panel building and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems , control systems , and automation components .
  • Ability to use hand and power tools , multimeters, and other diagnostic instruments.
  • Familiarity with PLC systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) is a plus.
  • Understanding of UL 508A standards and NFPA 70E is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various physical environments (standing, kneeling, bending).
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for field service work (if applicable)
