\nJoin our team at Strong Memorial Hospital as an ICU Stepdown Nurse and make a vital impact in a high-acuity environment. This role is ideal for experienced nurses who thrive in fast-paced, critically oriented settings. Starting on December 15, 2025, this 13-week assignment offers a dynamic work environment where clinical excellence, professional growth, and research-driven practices are prioritized.

Position Overview :

\nUnder the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Level II Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering expert, compassionate care to critically ill patients in the Stepdown / PCU setting. You will play a crucial role in maintaining clinical standards, supervising patient care activities, and contributing to a multidisciplinary team. Your responsibilities may also include serving as charge nurse, preceptor, or committee member, supporting both patient outcomes and team development.

What You Bring : \n \n

  • Proven experience in Stepdown, Progressive Care Units (PCU), or similar high-acuity settings.\n
  • Proficiency in neuro checks, including Q1 neuro assessments, and managing neuro-specific equipment such as EVDs, lumbar drains, sub-dural drains, and VP shunts.\n
  • Hands-on experience with critical interventions including 3%NS and Cardene drips, arterial line management, carotid endarterectomy procedures, aneurysm coil / clips, Deep Brain Stimulator (DBS) insertion, and seizure management.\n
  • Strong telemetry skills and the ability to monitor and interpret complex patient data.\n
  • Excellent clinical judgment, attention to detail, and a patient-centered approach.\n

    Preferred Education & Experience :

  • Education : Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).\n
  • Experience : \n \n
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience in a Stepdown, PCU, or Neuro ICU setting.\n
  • Experience with high-acuity stroke care and neurosurgical patients.\n
  • Demonstrated ability to manage neuro-specific procedures and monitors.\n

  • Certifications & Licenses : \n \n
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required.\n
  • NY State Registered Nurse License required (NY License ONLY).\n\n\n\n
