Cost Tracking Specialist

About the Role

An Environmental Services contractor that provides mobile vapor control and wastewater treatment solutions for the oil and gas industry is seeking a detail-oriented Cost Tracking Specialist to join the operations team. This role is critical for managing project financials, monitoring job numbers, and ensuring adherence to budgets while supporting equipment and resource planning.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze project costs by reviewing requirements, specifications, and related documentation to ensure budget compliance.

Track actual spending on labor, materials, and subcontractors against budgeted amounts.

Identify and investigate discrepancies between estimated and actual costs to determine cost drivers.

Recommend cost-saving strategies to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date cost databases, models, and historical records.

Essential Skills

Strong analytical ability for data interpretation, trend analysis, and financial modeling.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Navigation, and familiarity with cost-accounting or ERP systems.

Excellent communication skills for collaboration with field operators and leadership.

High attention to detail for accurate cost tracking and reporting.

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Additional Qualifications

Experience in cost control, contract administration, billing systems, project support, cost accounting, and schedule management.

Minimum 1 year of industry experience required; industrial background is essential.

Growth potential to lead a team or manage a business segment, with performance-based salary progression.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Signal Hill, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
