Job description

Construction Welder

Join our team as a Construction Welder, where you will be responsible for inspecting and repairing handrails, catwalks, guard rails, platforms, staircases, and more. You will run saws to cut metal materials to length, operate overhead cranes and forklifts, and engage in welding and fabrication for prototype and repair projects. This role includes new construction tasks and assisting iron crews with onsite welding. You will be required to obtain work permits, fit and assemble metal parts from prototype prints to finished projects, read drawings, verify that all parts meet specifications, perform job walks, and provide design solutions for customers.

Inspect and repair handrails, catwalks, guard rails, platforms, and staircases.

Run saws to cut different metal materials to length.

Operate overhead cranes and forklifts.

Perform welding and fabrication for prototype and repair projects.

Assist with new construction and onsite welding for iron crews.

Obtain necessary work permits.

Fit and assemble metal parts from prototype prints to finished projects.

Read and interpret drawings to ensure all parts match specifications.

Conduct job walks and offer design solutions for customers.

Proficient in MIG welding, fabrication, and blueprint reading.

Experience with structural steel fabrication and steel cutting.

Skilled in iron work, metal framing, and erecting.

Ability to interpret and read blueprints effectively.

Experience with grinder, maintenance technician tasks, and saw operation.

Experience in maintaining alloy vehicles.

Ability to determine tool and equipment needs.

Availability for on-call rotation.

Capability to develop prototype solutions for customers.

Construction experience in iron work and pre-engineered metal building divisions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Midland, MI.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
