Job descriptionHackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center is an 820,000-square-foot facility that offers the latest medical programs, cutting-edge T echnology, and patient-focused care that includes 365 beds, 1,200+ employees and a 27-bed Emergency Room / Fast Track Unit. The Histotechnologist functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for pre-analytical specimen preparation and processing, embedding, microtomy, and maintaining the equipment under the direction of the Histology / Pathology department leadership, Pathologist, or designee. The position may also perform specimen grossing of surgically removed tissue under the supervision of the Pathologist. This job description reflects the essential function of the position, and it is not to be assumed that the principal functions are the only duties to be performed. Other duties may arise and be carried out as assigned to meet quality standards expected for patient care. All duties performed will be within the guidelines set forth by regulatory and hospital guidelines to maintain, manage, and assure specimen integrity. Bachelor's in histotechnology, laboratory science obtained from an accredited institution, OR bachelor's in biology or chemistry with education / training equivalent.

6 months’ experience as a Histotechnician.
Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
