This role ensures efficient, safe, and cost-effective operations by supporting fabrication, machining, assembly, and testing departments. The Process Engineer will play a key role in driving continuous improvement, developing BOM structures, supporting tooling and fixture design, and ensuring smooth NPI (New Product Introduction) handoff from R&D to manufacturing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Design, develop, and optimize production processes for fabrication and assembly of industrial mechanical assemblies.
  • Support BOM (Bill of Materials) structure development and maintenance.
  • Lead and coordinate the NPI handoff process from R&D to manufacturing; ensure design intent is manufacturable.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to improve product design and reduce production costs.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, yield, and quality.
  • Design, procure, and validate tooling, fixtures, and jigs required for production.
  • Collaborate with Quality to resolve non-conformances and drive root cause / corrective actions.
  • Support capacity planning, workflow optimization, and production cell layouts.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Integrate and support the use of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for process control, data collection, and production reporting.
  • Train operators and leads on new processes, MES functionality, procedures, and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications & Requirements :

  • Strong understanding of fabrication (welding, machining, sheet metal), assembly, and test processes.
  • Hands-on experience with BOM management and ERP / MRP systems.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), including process control and production data analysis.
  • Knowledge of tooling, fixture, and equipment design.
  • Experience with NPI and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems required.
  • Work Environment and Physical Demands :

The person will be in constant motion and will have physical activities, such as lifting (0-50 lbs.), bending, reaching, and stooping.

    Required Experience :

  • 3+ years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (industrial, mechanical, or electromechanical assemblies preferred).
  • Required Education Level

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
