Job Summary
Under the supervision of an assigned supervisor, the job of Nutrition Services Assistant-Floater is for the purposes of performing routine tasks in the assembly, serving, and sale of food in a high school or middle school kitchen or food service area.
The Nutritional Services Assistant-Floater performs routine duties such as setup, serving, cleaning and basic food assembly and operating a point of sale terminal, and is sent to different sites to fill in during an absence or when that site has a surge in daily production or a special project.

This position floats to various school sites throughout the school district (Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar, Carmel Valley).

The competitive basis for this recruitment is established as Open / Promotional-Dual Certification. The eligibility list is used to fill vacancies within the six-month eligibility period

Probationary period for a new or promotional employee is six months or 130 days of paid service, whichever is longer. Management employees serve a probationary period of one year.
