Udacity is seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team responsible for developing and maintaining the core applications and services that drive our user experience. You will work closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable solutions that enhance the learning journey for our students. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to explore and integrate emerging technologies, including generative AI, to create more personalized and adaptive learning experiences.

Responsibilities :

• Develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design solutions.
• Optimize and enhance existing systems to improve performance and reliability.
• Implement and enforce best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment.
• Explore opportunities to leverage generative AI to improve backend processes or enhance learning outcomes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Location : While this is a remote role, applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States of America on a full-time basis

Compensation : The maximum base pay for this position is $140,000, depending on experience and location.

Location : Udacity will hire a qualified candidate for this remote based position anywhere in the US with the exception of the following states :   Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma,  Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington D.C., West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

Relocation assistance is not available.
