Position Summary :   Provide medications and treatments to residents while upholding service standards, philosophy, and mission.

Position Responsibilities include, among others :

• Administer medications and treatments to residents in a timely manner per physician orders.
• Reorder medication as needed to ensure that medications are available when needed.
• Give report to medication aide relieving you.
• Maintain confidentiality of all resident information.
• Transcribe physicians order to the Medication Administration Records (MARs) when received as appropriate to our Medication Administration Procedures (MAP) and fax to community’s pharmacy.
• Record vital signs on MARs.
• Maintain the supplies stocked on medication carts.
• Call and communicate with residents’ physicians to report the need for an appointment or medication or report change in behaviors or report health concerns.
• Follow the medication administration plan (MAP) as per the Community's Policy and Procedures.
• Communicate with community pharmacy for any supply needs.
• Become the Designated "Person In-Charge" when Administrator is not on site.
• Participate in and attend all required in-services / training sessions, including Relias modules.
• Communicate any staff or resident issues or concerns with the Administrator and / or RCC / RCD.
• Able to perform and be responsible for all tasks and job requirements listed on Registered Medication Aide and Direct Care Aide job descriptions.

Physical Demands :   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, use fine and gross motor skills, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and or smell.  An individual must have the reading ability at the level to comprehend notes.  An individual in this position will be required to lift or carry weights including up to 75 pounds.  Intermittent physical activity includes lifting and supporting residents using proper body mechanics and with proper assistive devices wherever appropriate.  The employee must be free of diseases that can be transmitted in the performance of job responsibilities during the stage of communicability.  More is described in the Community's job description upon hire.
