Converge Heartland is a movement of churches seeking to bring Gospel transformation to every Heartland community through the starting and strengthening of churches. Converge Heartland is a district of Converge that includes North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and the Kansas City metro area. We are looking for a gifted and adventurous minister who senses a call to be a church planter willing to start a church in Tulsa, OK.

Often referred to as The Oil Capital of the World, Tulsa and its surrounding area boast a population of over 1 million people. Tulsa is the second-largest city in Oklahoma and growing by .2% annually. Tulsa has increased by approximately 22,000 people in the last decade. We are looking for someone who senses a call to the Tulsa Metroplex to plant a church that brings Gospel transformation to the people of Tulsa and the surrounding area.

Character

  • Grit and tenacity to faithfully pursue the calling to plant a church
  • A willingness to learn from other planters and their culture to plant wisely
  • A desire to embrace and work alongside other pastors / churches who dont share the same secondary doctrines

Competency

  • Have to be able to fundraise both within and outside the church
  • Be able to recruit people to the mission of the church
  • Be able to form strategic partnerships with other churches
  • Be able to plan and run a business / board meeting
  • Minimum three years of ministry / leadership experience
  • We highly prefer some completion of post-secondary education
  • Be proficient in evangelism skills

    • Chemistry

  • Doctrinal alignment with Converge and the Converge Heartland District
  • A desire to connect with the Converge Heartland and Converge National
  • A willingness to work within a team structure
  • A desire to be coached and trained

    • Calling

  • A strong desire to see the lost come to Jesus
  • Deep love and burden for the people in Tulsa
  • Desire to reach their city, but also a willingness for multiplying more churches and developing leaders / pastors / planters
  • Have the backing of a local church (can be outside of Converge, but Converge friendly)
  • A desire to attend and submit to the results of the Converge Church Planting Assessment Center
