Women Against Abuse (WAA), Philadelphia's leading domestic violence advocate and service provider and among the largest domestic violence agencies in the country serving 2 Safe Havens, 15 Transitional Housing apartments, Legal Services, Hotline Counseling, Aftercare Community-Based services, Prevention & Education, and Advocacy is looking for Intake & Hotline Counselors!

Responsibilities :

The Intake & Hotline Counselor is a role crucial to providing callers and client direct service links to external resources through the DV Hotline that are necessary in establishing safety when leaving a domestic violence situation and will act as a liaison to clients and potential clients by conducting intake to our Safe Havens. Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

Answer the Hotline - Conduct crisis intervention and safety planning with callers
Ensure a Trauma-Informed client intake and orientation with DV counseling and support
Assist OSH (Office of Supportive Housing) Intake staff by assessing the needs of the person(s) presenting for service and arrange direct access to the Safe Haven or other safe option
Provide information related to maintaining safety, discuss available options, counseling services or referrals and connect clients to said services (in the event space is not available)
Collect and report data
Maintain the daily census for our Safe Havens - Enter hotline & intake information into database for up to date records

Minimum Qualifications :

Associate's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

One (1) year minimum experience in advocacy, hotline, crisis, or related experience

Demonstrated proficiency in communication (verbal and written)

Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member with a diverse population

Demonstrated effectiveness of crisis intervention and a commitment to service of others

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience working with survivors of domestic violence and / or intimate partner violence

PA Domestic Violence Advocate Training, if not obtained, must attend and complete prior to starting onsite

(Upcoming training November 17 - December 3)

Bilingual or Conversational in a language in addition to English

Satisfactory Child Abuse, Criminal and FBI clearances, obtained, and maintained post offer

Full-Time : Monday - Friday 10 : 00 AM - 6 : 00 PM

Relief / Substitute

Pay Rate : $18.81 an hour
