As a Lead Quality Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) across our electric power systems for aviation applications. You will lead quality initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver products that meet or exceed customer expectations.

This position requires a strong commitment to Safety and Quality, as well as expertise in quality systems, problem-solving methodologies, and lean principles.

Our Vandalia facility is located 50 minutes north of the GE Aerospace headquarters and sits just north of the city of Dayton-known widely as the birthplace of aviation-where the Wright Brothers built the world's first aircraft in their bicycle shop in the heart of downtown Dayton. This business boasts a rich history, in operation for over 100 years. At over 140,000 square feet, the Vandalia facility rests on 27 acres right off Interstate 75.

Job Description

Role & Responsibilities

Lead the implementation and maintenance of quality systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001) and regulatory requirements.

Act as the primary quality interface with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to address quality concerns and drive resolution.

Lead cross-functional teams in identifying root causes of quality issues using structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, Six Sigma, DMAIC).

Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues and improve product reliability.

Drive process improvements using lean methodologies, including Kaizen events and Standard Work.

Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to optimize processes and reduce variability.

Monitor and report key quality metrics, including defect rates, first-pass yield, and customer satisfaction.

Partner with the supply chain team to ensure supplier quality performance meets GE Aerospace standards.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field from an accredited college or university (or High School Diploma / GED with 8 years of equivalent work experience)

Minimum of 4 years of experience in manufacturing quality

Additional Information

Desired Characteristics

Strong knowledge of quality systems and standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001)

Proficiency in problem-solving tools (8D, FMEA, SPC, etc.)

Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies

Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence and drive change across teams

Experience in the aerospace or aviation industry

Passion for delivering high-quality products and exceeding customer expectations

Ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and build strong relationships

Commitment to driving measurable improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC)

Familiarity with aviation electric power systems and related technologies

ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Green / Black Belt, or equivalent
