Product Manager

PayPay Card Corporation was established in 2021 to provide users a FinTech service that is more accessible and convenient compared to previous credit cards and credit services, by integrating with the PayPay payment platform, which has surpassed 69 million users since its launch (as of May 2025).

We are looking for people who are passionate about refining our products at an overwhelming speed that other companies cannot match, as well as professionals who are interested in promoting the spread of cashless payments in Japan and the use of these payments as a financial life platform. We're seeking passionate, results-oriented Product Managers to own and deliver high-impact solutions that redefine the credit card and payments landscape. Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle for complex initiatives, from ideation and requirements gathering through development, launch, and post-launch analysis.
  • Translate complex business requirements and user needs into clear, detailed Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), user stories, user flows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Define and articulate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for your designated product areas, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Collaborate intensively with engineering, design, data, marketing, legal, compliance, and operations teams throughout the product lifecycle to ensure successful product delivery and adoption.
  • Manage project timelines, prioritize features, and navigate trade-offs to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and gather customer feedback to inform product decisions.
  • Communicate product updates, progress, and results effectively to stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
  • Develop a profound understanding of the credit card domain, payment processing, relevant Japanese laws, and our current system specifications, leveraging documents in both English and Japanese.
  • This role will involve leading initiatives across areas such as :

  • Core Payment Processing & Infrastructure : Modernizing and enhancing our core authorization, clearing, and settlement systems, including cloud migration initiatives.
  • Lending Products & User Experience : Developing and optimizing our products, focusing on improving user flexibility and accessibility.
  • Acquiring Solutions & Merchant Enablement : Expanding our acquiring capabilities and enabling new payment acceptance methods.
  • Risk Management & Compliance : Implementing and enhancing fraud detection and management systems, ensuring compliance with critical regulations.
  • Operational Efficiency & Automation : Identifying opportunities to streamline internal processes through automation.
  • Customer Value & Engagement : Integrating card features and promotions within the PayPay app ecosystem.
  • Generative AI : Exploring and implementing AI solutions to improve internal operations and customer interactions.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or at least 3 years of technical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in product management.
  • Demonstrated success in launching and iterating on complex products in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working closely with engineering teams and familiarity with agile development methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to define KPIs, analyze data, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders effectively.
  • Business level proficiency in English (written and verbal).
  • Business level proficiency in Japanese (written and verbal).
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of credit card processing (issuing and / or acquiring), lending products, or risk management (fraud, credit, compliance).
  • Experience with regulatory compliance projects (e.g., AML / CFT, network mandates).
  • Experience working with fraud detection and risk management systems.
  • Experience with system modernization or cloud migration projects.
  • Experience working with external vendors and managing technical integrations.
  • Experience in the Japanese market or with Japanese payment systems / regulations.
  • Hands-on experience with AI / ML applications in financial services (e.g., chatbots, fraud detection, LLM using RAG).

  • Hybrid Workstyle (flexible working style including Remote and office) ?There are no fixed rules regarding office attendance in Technology group; it depends on each individual's discretion.

  • Full Flex Time (No Core Time)
  • In principle, 9 : 00am ~ 5 : 45pm (actual working hours : 7h45m + 1h break)

  • Every Sat / Sun / National holidays (In Japan) / New Year's break / Company-designated Special days
  • Paid leave

  • Annual leave (up to 14 days in the first year, granted proportionally according to the month of employment. Can be used from the date of hire)
  • Personal leave (5 days each year, granted proportionally according to the month of employment)
  • PayPay Group's own special paid leave system, which can be used to attend to illnesses, injuries, hospital visits, etc., of the employee, family members, pets, etc.

  • Annual salary paid in 12 installments (monthly)
