Christ College at Concordia University Irvine invites applications for a full-time faculty member in philosophy. Rank is open. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2026. The faculty member will teach introductory philosophy courses in Concordia's Enduring Questions and Ideas Core Curriculum; these courses focus on close reading of primary philosophical texts from the pre-Socratics through Kant. The teaching load is four courses per semester and consists mostly of introductory courses. There may be opportunities to teach upper division courses in philosophy of religion, philosophy of science, bioethics, and / or ethics.
Qualifications : Candidates should be active members of a Christian congregation. They should hold a doctorate in philosophy (ABD will be considered). Areas of specialization and concentration (AOS / AOC) are open. Preference will be given to candidates who have broad familiarity with the history of philosophy and who can connect the Christian faith to course content.
Appointment : This position is a full-time, 10-month position teaching in the fall and spring semesters on the university's Turtle Rock Campus in Irvine, CA. The faculty member is expected to participate fully in the life of the university, including chapel, university committees and service, and informal collegial conversations.
