Position Responsibilities :
- Track and respond to federal, state, and local tax notices.
- File federal, state, and local tax documents by preparing property tax returns, state pages, and federal, state, and municipal returns, extensions, and quarterly payments including but not limited to sales tax, wireless fees, fuel tax, franchise tax, annual tax, biodiesel, and EIA.
- Prepare tax provision schedules by reviewing, preparing, and consolidating information from various data sources.
- Maintain tax depreciation schedules.
- Prepare quarterly taxable income estimates and prepare and provide annual tax work papers to tax preparers.
- Recommend tax strategies by researching federal, state, and local taxation issues.
- Maintain legislative materials by reviewing, interpreting, and implementing new or revised laws.
- Maintain compliance with regulations by forwarding required information to federal, state, and local authorities.
- Conduct periodic review of data capture and tax calculation procedures, and make recommendations to improve processes.
- Identify profitability of potential mergers and acquisitions by analyzing tax information; calculating key ratios; identifying areas of tax savings.
- Assist with request for state and US Federal income tax audits.
- Supervise Sales & Use Tax Accountant responsible for Sales & Use Tax and Property Tax, including reviewing account reconciliations and payments.
- Assist in real estate tax appeal process.
- Assist in sales and use tax audit process.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.Three or more years of recent public accounting experience.Proficient in the use and application of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook).Preferred Skills and Competencies :
Experience in consumer retail industry strongly preferred.Outstanding administrative and organizational skills.Strong work ethic and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Excellent communication and analytical skills.Meticulous attention to detail and deadline oriented.Team player with the ability to handle multiple projects.Continuous improvement mindset.Benefits
