Maintenance Worker I
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking individual to join our Public Works team as a part time, temporary Maintenance Worker I. This role involves performing a variety of tasks related to infrastructure maintenance and repair.
Responsibilities :
- Perform unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in a variety of maintenance activities, including pick and shovel work, loading and unloading materials, street cleaning, and refuse collection
- Assist with road repair and maintenance, including paving, patching, and raking
- Dig trenches and lay pipe, conduit, and other underground utilities
- Operate small power equipment and vehicles
- Assist with animal control duties and provide support to the police department
- Install and maintain street signs, guardrails, and barricades
- Maintain safety procedures and ensure compliance with regulations
- Perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time in varied weather conditions.
Qualifications & Requirements :
Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in general maintenance work.Safe work practicesSafe driving principles and practicesValid driver's licenseStrong work ethic and attention to detailAbility to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 75 lbs.; exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, confining work space, electrical hazards, vibration, chemicals, dust, and mechanical hazards; availability for on call work.Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performanceBenefits :
